A daily closing checklist for shop owners
· 4 min read · SHENZEE Tech
Closing is when small mistakes are still easy to find. A short routine each evening saves a lot of trouble at month end.
The checklist
- Close the register and count the cash. Compare it with what the system expects.
- Check card, bank transfer and QR totals against the payments you received.
- Look at the sales for the day: any unusually large discounts or returns?
- Check the low-stock list and note what to reorder.
- Open the dues list and mark who to remind tomorrow.
- Back up: make sure the day's sales have synced if you used an offline app.
- Lock the PC.
If cash does not match
Do not just adjust the number. Find the cause: a wrong change amount, a sale recorded as the wrong payment type, a refund not entered. Write down the difference. Patterns show up quickly when you record them.
Why it works
A shop that checks every day finds a 500-rupee mistake today instead of a 50,000-rupee mistake next month.
